The full posting, unedited

You will turn real manufacturing and repair problems into working software and automation. Learn how a site operates, choose a useful intervention, build it, deploy it with the people who use it, and keep it reliable after release.

This is a hands-on engineering role in HEICO Parts & Repair Group. You will own projects from discovery through implementation, adoption and long-term support, connecting technical decisions to cycle time, cost, quality and delivery.

You will start at an operating site in Hartford, Connecticut, then learn other businesses across the group. Each site has different products, equipment and processes. Expect to ask questions, revisit assumptions and adapt your approach rather than deploy the same answer everywhere.

HEICO is an aerospace, industrial, defense and electronics group. Its businesses operate through the Flight Support Group and Electronic Technologies Group.

The Flight Support Group designs and manufactures replacement aircraft and engine parts, including FAA-approved PMA parts, and provides repair, overhaul and distribution services. This role belongs to HEICO Parts & Repair Group, bringing practical automation into manufacturing and repair operations.

That gives your work a tangible setting: teams making aerospace parts and repairing flight-critical components, with quality, regulatory and reliability constraints that shape every improvement.

  • Learn workflows directly with manufacturing, quality and engineering teams. Find bottlenecks, rework, manual handoffs and fragmented information.
  • Scope and prioritize improvements with leadership. Explain the expected operational value and make pragmatic tradeoffs between the ideal solution, cost, quality, reliability and available time.
  • Build software, AI and automation solutions, take them through production rollout, and troubleshoot and improve them after release.
  • Consolidate technical information from legacy systems, scanned documents, engineering drawings and maintenance records into sources engineers can trust.
  • Work alongside shop-floor teams so tools fit the way people actually work. Train users and support adoption.
  • Diagnose problems in deployed systems and production or field environments. The work includes practical fault diagnosis around mechanical, electrical or electronic systems, not only application debugging.
  • Support engineering and PMA-related workflows within FAA and company quality requirements, including work involving component reverse engineering.
  • Document successful changes so other subsidiaries can repeat them. Keep engineers, quality staff and executives informed of decisions and results.

The role reports to the Director, Engineering.

The goal is an improvement that holds after rollout. Establish baseline measures before a project, then track whether cycle time, cost, quality or on-time delivery improves.

Success means users consistently adopt the solution, production problems are diagnosed and resolved, and the system remains reliable through ongoing support. Each deployment should leave usable documentation and knowledge for the next operating site.

The target is 1-5 years of experience. Demonstrated implementation and ownership matter more than the year count; this is not an upper experience limit.

  • A bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science.
  • At least one year designing, deploying and supporting hardware or software systems in live manufacturing, engineering or maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) environments, including troubleshooting and fixing them after release.
  • Personally attributable software or automation implementation. Be ready to explain what you built, the operational problem it solved and what happened after deployment.
  • Practical diagnosis of complex mechanical, electrical or electronic failures in field or production environments.
  • The ability to scope work independently, make sound engineering decisions under time pressure, and explain tradeoffs to engineers and executives.
  • Curiosity about unfamiliar businesses and the willingness to learn directly from the people doing the work.

Aerospace manufacturing, aviation engineering or aerospace MRO experience is preferred. Applied AI, robotics, equipment integration, diagnostic tools and technical-data consolidation can also strengthen your application. Show the work and your contribution, rather than a list of tools or a school name.

Initially, you will be based in Hartford, Connecticut, onsite five days per week for approximately 6-12 months.

Expect approximately 50% travel to operating sites, including extended stays. Learning a new business may require being there for a month or two, rather than a short visit.

Later flexibility to work from Miami, Hartford or remotely is possible, not guaranteed.

HEICO requires a U.S. Person because some subsidiaries handle DoD and ITAR work. HEICO determines eligibility for this requirement.

The role involves time on manufacturing and repair shop floors, required protective equipment and work around industrial equipment. It requires comfort with onsite troubleshooting and ongoing support as well as building new systems.

You should want to implement the solution yourself and stay responsible after it reaches users. Pure research, advisory work or prototypes without deployment and support ownership will not cover this role's scope.

The initial Hartford assignment and travel, including longer stays away, need to fit how you want to work. Future location flexibility does not replace those initial commitments.

  • A salary of $150,000-$170,000 annually.
  • Ownership from learning an operational problem through building, deployment, adoption and sustained support.
  • Direct work with shop-floor teams, engineers, quality staff and executives, with outcomes visible in how an aerospace business operates.
  • Variety across operating sites: new processes to understand and useful improvements to carry into the next deployment.
